The word holiday actually is a combination of the word ‘Holy’ and ‘Day’, originally representing special religious day. Nowadays the meaning has changes but tradition still states that a holiday is a specified religious day. Holidays and celebrations go hand in hand in India and other countries of the world.
Based on religion, culture, tradition and lifestyle of the country, each country celebrates its own unique festivals and holidays. There is a long list of holidays for all the countries of the world. The government of all the countries categorizes holidays in three different groups, public holidays, bank holidays and national holidays. Public holidays are holidays where all the shops and offices are closed but banks and other government office still operate. On bank holidays, all the banks and government offices along with other shops and offices are closed and on national holiday, the entire nation sits at home and enjoys the bliss of a holiday.
